Public Hearing Notice
Ossineke Township – Zoning Ordinance Amendment
The Ossineke Township Planning Commission will hold two public hearings on November 13, 2024, at 7:00 P. M. to recommend adoption of a zoning ordinance amendment to the Township Board. The public hearing will be held at 9041 W. Nicholson Hill Road, Hubbard Lake, Michigan, 49747. The full text of the amendments is available on https://ossineketownship.com or at the Ossineke Township Hall at the above address. Written comments may be sent to the above address prior to the meeting. The public may appear at the public hearings in person or by counsel. The public hearings will be held consecutively.
A summary of the proposed amendment for the first public hearing is as follows: Amend Section 2.0 to provide a definition of a tiny home to be any detached single-family dwelling less than 600 square feet. Amend Section 4.8.C to change the minimum dwelling unit size to 250 square feet and to require tiny homes to submit a copy of the building permit to the township. The ordinance also provides for severability, a savings clause, and effective date.
A summary of the proposed amendment for the second public hearing is as follows: Amend Section 2.0 to add definitions related to solar energy facilities, wind energy facilities, and battery energy storage systems. Amend Section 4.0 to change solar energy facilities in the FF-1 District from a permitted use to a special use and to allow battery energy storage systems in the industrial district (and in the FF-1 District only in conjunction with a solar energy facility or wind energy facility). Amend Section 7.27 to provide a more comprehensive solar energy section, amend Section 7.25 to provide comprehensive changes to the regulations for wind energy systems, and add Section 7.28 to regulate battery energy storage systems. The ordinance also provides for severability, a savings clause, and effective date.
